Practice Listening Skills With Music
We have already looked at using adverts for practicing our listening skills. Another fun resource is music.
YouTube has many Thai songs of all imaginable genres. It seems as though most seem to have been recorded for karaoke with the lyrics in scrolling subtitles. I personally don’t like this because I find it too distracting, preferring to concentrate on the listening, however we all learn in our own way.
What is very useful is to have a transcript of the song. Secondary sources are therefore often the best way to go.
Kruu Jiab, one of the members of our Facebook group posts a lot of music video links on her site, some with transcripts and translations for example. Thai Style Music.
